THE POSITION

This position will give you the opportunity to inspect buildings and structures and enforce compliance with the Uniform Construction Code (UCC). DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for conducting inspections, reporting unsafe conditions and violations and preparing reports of investigations. As the Building Inspector you will conduct Accessibility Audits for compliance with Accessibility Standards and Building Codes. You will have the opportunity to assist with Complaint Investigations against Building Code Officials. Work includes correction of conditions found to be unsafe or not in compliance with applicable plans, laws and regulations. You will be expected to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, architects, engineers, building owners and other code officials.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.
  • Work hours are 7:30 am to 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is home headquartered in Bradford County. Must reside in Bradford County within six months of hiring.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the UCC Building Inspector Trainee program; or
  • Two years of experience inspecting commercial, industrial, or other public use buildings for compliance with building and safety codes; or
  • Three years of building construction work which included the performance of skilled trades duties in the electrical, structural, plumbing, or mechanical trades; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Necessary Special Requirements:

  • Valid certification issued by the Department of Labor and Industry, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as an Accessibility Inspector/Plan Examiner.
  • All positions in this job also require one of the following valid certifications issued by the Department of Labor and Industry, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania: Building Inspector, Electrical Inspector, Mechanical Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, or Energy Inspector.

Condition of Employment:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Pa Class C non-commercial driver's license.
