This position will be used to cover On call shifts 5p-7a M-F and weekends.
Requires experience with vascular ultrasound including upper and lower extremities.
Location: Emory University Ortho & Spine Hospital
JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Produces two-dimensional ultrasonic recordings of internal organs and or vasculature using ultrasound equipment to assist physicians in the diagnosis of diseases and in the study of malfunctioning organs.
- Prepares equipment and patients for procedures and conducts procedures with proper sterile technique.
- Explains procedures to patients/families to reduce their anxiety and to obtain patient cooperation.
- Discusses test results with a supervisor or attending physician.
- Responsible for completing all aspects of patient care documentation as required in imaging services.
- Completes procedures in Radiology Information System to ensure billing of exams/procedure.
- Prepares billing sheet and is responsible for bar-coding charges into inventory management system.
- Communicates and explains various procedures to the patient/family.
- Processes all required paper work, has knowledge of supplies, and stocks rooms.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be a student in good standing within 60 days of graduation from an accredited school of Ultrasound and at a minimum be registry-eligible with American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography or American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) in Sonography.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification in accordance with the American Heart Association required.
