Machine Shop Supervisor – Slaughter, LA

EVALUATION HIRE

$33+ / hr. 

Day Shift 7 am – 3:30 pm Mon-Thursday, 6 am - 2:30 pm Fridays

 

Express Employment Professionals, a full-service staffing agency, is currently hiring a Machine shop supervisor to supervise a crew of manual and CNC machinists as they produce the necessary components to assemble our product lines. In this role, you will play a key role in our manufacturing process, by ensuring a safe workplace, high-quality standards, and company procedures, and managing and controlling stock material levels for inventory. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining, 3 or more years in a supervisory role, a willingness to learn basic CNC operations to improve productivity and great organizational skills.

 

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES for Machine Shop Supervisor: 

• Managing workflow and production schedules to meet project deadlines and customer requirements.
• Monitoring and maintaining machine shop equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety standards.
• Implementing and enforcing quality control measures to uphold product specifications and standards.
• Conducting performance evaluations and providing constructive feedback to team members to foster growth and development.
• Promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement within the machine shop.
• Manage and control stock material levels for inventory to keep up with upcoming jobs on time to not interrupt workflow.
• Ensuring the Health & Safety policy and working practices are adhered to by all staff
• Ensuring that good housekeeping is always maintained
• Carrying out any other tasks as reasonably required by management
• Continually upgrade safe workplace practices

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a supervisory role preferred.
• Machine Shop environment supervisory experience is a plus.
• Strong computer skills - proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Possess great interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to organize, develop, and utilize the resources available to achieve business objectives.
• Education, experience, or a willingness to learn basic CNC operations to track and improve productivity. 
• Strong technical knowledge of machining processes, including CNC machining, milling, turning, and grinding.
• Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to resolving challenges.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
