Position Overview

Starting Salary Range is $48,770 -$56,087. The initial salary offer is commensurate with education and related work experience.

This position will oversee all spirit-related programming at Lee College including personnel, fan, and community engagement. This individual must commit to leading the Lee College co-ed cheer team and mascot with an emphasis on academic and performance success. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, recruiting, scheduling, managing scholarships, and overall budget, fundraising, and teamwork as it serves to support the mission of Lee College Navigator Athletics and Lee College. Facilitate external strategic initiatives that raise the profile of the college throughout the service area foster new community engagement opportunities, and create positive stakeholder experiences with the Lee College brand. The incumbent cultivates engaging collegiate experiences for students and campus visitors through interactions with the cheerleaders and mascot, representing the institution in a manner that builds positive college brand interactions.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Recruit and retain students for the Lee College cheer team and mascot.
  • Coach, train, and motivate cheer team and mascot to achieve a spectacular game day atmosphere for fans while promoting a safe and encouraging environment.
  • Collaborate with various offices to ensure student success and create a culture that promotes school spirit and athletic support.
  • provide mentorship to optimize student success in both academic and athletic (cheer) performances.
  • Provide auxiliary support for special activities - cultivate community support through engagement, appearances, and partnerships.
  • Lead and coordinate the planning of special activities related to the college and cheer program, including, but not limited to local parades, festivals, national competitions, banquets, award presentations, senior nights, and all school-related activities that will include the cheer team and/or mascot.
  • Monitor and ensure that injured team members receive appropriate care.
  • Attend all practices, games, and competitions; develop and implement a clear and organized practice plan.
  • Provide transportation to away games and special activities, either by driving or arranging for a driver.
  • Manage the team budget and all team fundraising efforts.
  • Coordinate mascot appearances.
  • Coordinate the upkeep and care of the mascot and cheer costumes.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Minimum Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Bachelor's (or higher) degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience in lieu of a degree
  • One (1) years of related experience
  • NCA, UCA, High School, and/or All-Star experience
  • Excellent logistic and planning skills with the ability to successfully manage multiple and/or overlapping projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of teaching, coaching, and current trends in mascot management
  • Current cheerleading coaching certification through the USA Cheer and/or similar professional and safety training certification
  • Critical thinking to correlate feedback from several sources with great attention to detail, identifying long and near-term goals
  • Ability to engage effectively with others of diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, meet deadlines, and follow specific instructions
  • Strong organizational, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential
  • Available to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Preferred:
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Demonstrated success in spirit quad coaching, community affairs, public relations, and or other highly relevant experience
