Summary

CHS, Inc. has an exciting opportunity within our Pipelines and Terminals (P&T) division in Laurel, MT. We are looking for a GIS Technician to ensure compliance with relevant Federal Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations related to GIS, Integrity Management, and pipeline data management through effective data maintenance practices and interaction with employees at all levels of the organization. You must be a detail oriented, results-driven individual with a commitment to quality, accuracy, and the ability to organize and prioritize workloads and work independently to meet deadlines. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are essential.

Responsibilities
  • GIS data entry and data maintenance. Update centerlines, enter Pipeline Inspection and Repair data, and create GIS published products (cartography/maps, etc.).
  • Train P&T personnel and troubleshoot GIS issues. Provide user support for ESRI software and apps.
  • Field data collection. Support field employees and project managers to collect data outside the scope of field staff capabilities.
  • QA/QC updates to web maps. Daily review of web maps to ensure that end user expectations are met.
  • Participate in emergency response planning and drills.
  • Perform other responsibilities as needed or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (required)
  • High School diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of GIS experience 
Additional Qualifications
  • Associate's degree preferred in Geographic information science or  related field 
  • Working knowledge of ArcGIS Online or ESRI Portal Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite
  • 5+ years of pipeline GIS experience Working knowledge of PODS database Familiar with NewCentury Software products
  • Participation in and leading the design, development, and implementation of software and hardware solutions, systems, or products
  • Detail oriented and ability to work independently
