We are seeking candidates with Bindery experience and/or machine operating experience with a willingness and drive to learn Bindery machinery.


We have immediate needs for the following but would be interested in speaking to candidates with other Bindery experience.


  • Binder Operator
  • Trimmer Operator


SHIFT: This is a Night Shift position, with regular hours scheduled as follows: Monday – Thursday, 6pm – 4am, a Shift Differential, and overtime opportunities.


Bindery Operators are responsible for the safe, efficient, and economical operation of bindery machinery in order to meet daily production goals in a manner consistent with rules and policies. Bindery Operators are generally responsible for safely and efficiently operating the company's machines according to job specifications, quality specifications and the daily production schedule. Bindery Operators perform routine and preventative maintenance on machinery. Depending on the machine, Bindery Operators hold a leadership role in guiding the work of their assigned crew(s). Other Bindery tasks may be assigned from time to time as warranted by workloads and production requirements.


Must be able to learn additional Bindery equipment, but will be trained to do so.





Requirements:

TECHNICAL:

  • Set-up, operate, adjust and maintain equipment.
  • Operate machine at company standard for run speed.
  • Makeready machine at company standard.
  • Know how to read operators and parts manual for your machine.
  • Know how to perform preventative maintenance on your machine.
  • Report items that need to be repaired. Complete maintenance work orders when required.
  • Assist maintenance personnel and outside suppliers during repairs.
  • Know how to read and interrupt work order instructions.


ADMINISTRATIVE:

  • Accurately document all production activities in Hagen.
  • Accurately and thoroughly complete shipping reports/pallet flags. Sign the paper work.
  • Insure that product counts are made. Properly dispose of left over forms and books
  • Update operators log on a daily basis
  • Maintains an organized work space with work order, proofs, paper work neatly prepared.


QUALITY:

  • Know how to produce a quality book on your machine
  • Pull quality samples at required intervals
  • Notify crew members when you are running the customer samples
  • Check the customer samples and place in bin or cartons and take them to the QC area. Complete the sample tag or shipping sheet


LEADERSHIP:

  • Maintain a positive attitude and even temperament
  • Actively participate in company training programs
  • Maintain an excellent attendance record by keeping absences and incidences of being late to work at a minimum.
  • Work daily and weekend overtime as necessary to meet customer expectations.


ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follows all safety policies and procedures, including but not limited to proper use of PPEs, safe ergonomic practices, and proper and safe handling of chemicals.
  • Working knowledge, awareness, and compliance with ISO Procedures.
  • May require additional availability to work evenings and/or weekends.

Other duties as assigned, including working where directed, be it on varying presses or in other departments.

  • Ability to work at a rapid pace
  • Ability to tolerate being exposed to loud noises and moving machinery (PPE provided)

  9. Kneeling = 5 %
  10. Reaching = 10 %
  11. Handling = 90 %


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Fluent in English; written and oral
  • Prior experience in a printing environment
  • Safely operate a fork truck/clamp truck
  • Problem solving skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to work well with a team
