Job Summary:

The Lead Shop Mechanic oversees the day-to-day operations of the shop, ensuring that all mechanical repairs and maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and to the highest standards. This role involves supervising a team of mechanics, coordinating workflow, and maintaining inventory levels. The Lead Shop Mechanic also performs hands-on mechanical work and provides technical guidance to junior mechanics.

Essential Functions:

  1. Committed to serve. Provide technical training/guidance and supervise and coordinate the activities of mechanics in the shop by assigning tasks and prioritizing workflow to ensure timely completion of repairs and maintenance.
  2. Dedication. Perform mechanical repairs, maintenance, and diagnostics on vehicles and equipment as needed, including diagnosing complex mechanical issues and developing effective solutions.
  3. Results matter. Inspect work performed by mechanics to ensure quality and compliance with safety standards.
  4. Focused. Maintain accurate records of work orders, inventory, and equipment maintenance schedules.
  5. Obligated. Order parts and supplies as needed to maintain inventory levels.
  6. Determined. Utilize "Tenna" in daily work to include but not limited to daily equipment inspections, PM service, Work Order.
  7. Ownership and caring. Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  8. Protect family and friends. Ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  9. Compulsive tinkering. Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and develop strategies to resolve them efficiently.
  10. Respect and engage. Coordinate with external vendors for specialized repairs or services.
  11. Innovation. Keep abreast of industry developments and new technologies in automotive and equipment repair.


Requirements, Education and Experience:

  1. 2 - 5 years of experience in the service repair industry (Auto/Heavy Truck and Equipment)
  2. Must have valid driver’s license, CDL preferred.
  3. Knowledge of gas and diesel engines, hydraulic and electrical systems.
  4. Must be able to work independently or with other mechanics.
  5. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  6. Flexibility to meet the company’s needs.
  7. Legal right to work in the U.S.

Travel:

Position may require up to 5% travel by personal vehicle to offices throughout the state of New York, and New England based on the needs of the business.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

Heavy work that includes moving objects up to 50 lb. or more. This position works on or near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment. Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, pulling, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion. On occasion the job will require going out in the field and various plants and quarries.
