Parts Runner - Fleet Maintenance

Summary:  Under the supervision of the Equipment Manager and in conjunction with the team of mechanics, the Parts Runner / Shop Worker will pick up and deliver parts, and equipment.

Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:

• Ensures shop cleanliness and maintenance on a regular basis.
• Processes and tracks parts that have been ordered.
• Makes repairs and performs routine and preventive maintenance on building shop equipment.
• Performs clean up duties at the shop, shop vehicles, offices which may include taking out the trash, sweeping, mopping, dusting and cleaning windows.
• Coordinates with mechanics to schedule pickup and delivery of parts and equipment to the different job sites.
• Performs parts inventory.
• Monitors and reports all safety-related issues at the shop area or any location where maintenance is being performed.
• Performs additional responsibilities, as assigned.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred.
• Two the three years of related experience and training.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License required, CDL preferred.
• Bilingual preferred (Spanish).
• Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrates ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence.
• Demonstrates ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure.
• Demonstrates a sense of urgency in responding to all situations.
• Demonstrates ability to prioritize assigned work and complete it in a timely manner.
• Demonstrates ability to collaborate and work effectively as a team.
• Demonstrates responsibility in reporting to work on a consistent and timely basis.
• Demonstrates the ability to work varying schedules, as needed, to include working overtime.

Physical Requirements:

·         This position exists within a heavy construction environment, including hot, noisy, and wet conditions.

·         This position requires constant walking throughout jobsites, lifting and carrying tools and equipment exceeding 50 pounds.

·         Safety toe shoes are required, and other personal protective equipment may be required depending on work assignments.

·         Work in the construction area poses significantly greater risk due to moving construction equipment and active construction zones with trip and fall hazards.   

·         The office environment is a low to medium risk area.   

·         Driving a vehicle is required.

·         The Survey Manager will spend time both on the physical jobsite and in the office.    

·         The office environment is a low to medium risk area.   

·         Computers and phones are constantly in use.
