ASSOCIATE NURSE MANAGER JOB SUMMARY The Surgical unit has 41 private rooms and is located on the third floor. This unit cares for patients who are above 17 years of age who require medical/surgical nursing care. The primary population served is surgical including, but not limited to, orthopedics, bariatrics, vascular, neurology and general surgery. This unit also serves general medical patients with a diagnosis including but not limited to: sepsis, respiratory diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, skin and wound conditions and infections.

• Collaborates with the nurse manager leads front line nursing staff in the delivery of patient care
• Coaches and guide nursing staff in the implementation of action plans to achieve organizational goals of quality, efficiency, and excellence in practice.
• Adopts innovative nursing practices based on evidence
• Communicates and problem-solves at the unit and organizational level
• Collaborates with the nurse manager to complete the recruitment, selection, orientation, and retention of nursing staff
• Ensures nursing staff compliance
• Collaborates with the nurse manager on budget development, utilization, evaluation, and adjustment
• Maintains a healthy work environment utilizing the principles of “just culture”, which neither holds the nurse accountable for system failures nor tolerates reckless behavior
• Provides input into the evaluation of clinical nurses
• Mentors charge nurses and clinical nurses
• Implements changes in nursing practice and/or patient care through shared governance
• Assumes the nurse manager responsibilities in the absence of the nurse manager

ASSOCIATE NURSE MANAGER JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Education/Training/Experience:
• REQUIRED:
  • Graduate of an RN School of Nursing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Previous leadership related experience
• License/Certifications/Special Requirements:
  • Possesses current Illinois RN license.
  • Maintain current BLS
  • National Nursing Leadership Certification (when eligible).
  • ACLS (within 6 months of hire)
  • Preferred: Related Nursing Specialty Certification
• Pay Status:
  • EXEMPT
