- Collaborates with the nurse manager leads front line nursing staff in the delivery of patient care
- Coaches and guide nursing staff in the implementation of action plans to achieve organizational goals of quality, efficiency, and excellence in practice.
- Adopts innovative nursing practices based on evidence
- Communicates and problem-solves at the unit and organizational level
- Collaborates with the nurse manager to complete the recruitment, selection, orientation, and retention of nursing staff
- Ensures nursing staff compliance
- Collaborates with the nurse manager on budget development, utilization, evaluation, and adjustment
- Maintains a healthy work environment utilizing the principles of “just culture”, which neither holds the nurse accountable for system failures nor tolerates reckless behavior
- Provides input into the evaluation of clinical nurses
- Mentors charge nurses and clinical nurses
- Implements changes in nursing practice and/or patient care through shared governance
- Assumes the nurse manager responsibilities in the absence of the nurse manager
- Education/Training/Experience:

REQUIRED:
- Graduate of an RN School of Nursing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Previous leadership related experience

License/Certifications/Special Requirements:
- Possesses current Illinois RN license.
- Maintain current BLS
- National Nursing Leadership Certification (when eligible).
- ACLS (within 6 months of hire)
- Preferred: Related Nursing Specialty Certification
