Requirements:

Job Summary: Assists with dispensing medications and treatments of Residents as ordered by a Physician.

Qualifications:

  • Training and instruction per qualified staff
  • Experience and understanding of geriatrics beneficial
  • Previous supervisory experience extremely helpful (higher pay rate)
  • Ability to adhere to the organization, federal/state regulations regarding nursing care
  • Ability to communicate well with people
  • Be available to work every other weekend and holidays as needed


Essential Functions:

  • Dispensing medications and treatments properly, according to doctor's orders
  • Orders medications in a timely manner to ensure the resident is never out of a medication
  • Document record keeping and other information regarding residents' medication, vital signs, nursing care and services provided for the residents.
  • Assist assigned Personal Caregivers
  • Is aware of residents' needs and responds accordingly
  • Responds rapidly and appropriately to emergencies including resident and co-worker safety
  • Observes, assesses, and reports change in residents' conditions to co-workers, physicians, and/or family.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding information/medical records
  • Maintains clean work areas/cleans cart
  • Projects a positive image of the organization in dealing with residents, co-workers, families, and the public


Physical requirements:


* Communicates orally and in writing with residents, co-workers, families, and the public

* Possesses coordination to administer injections, etc.

  • Stands or walks up to 75% of 8-hour shift
  • Occasionally transfers up to an average of 100 lbs with an assist while lifting, positioning, and transferring residents
  • Pushes/pulls residents weighing 70-250 lbs in a wheelchair
  • Reads small print on medication, equipment and written materials
  • Identifies staff, residents, family, etc.
  • Able to hear normal sounds including conversations, alarms, etc. Distinguishes sound from stethoscopes, etc.
  • Possesses the ability to concentrate, understand and remember instructions, messages, details, and task assignments
  • Able to push approximately up to 100-pound cart on casters 392 feet (length of the hallway) on the carpeted floor
  • Frequently twists, stoops, bends, occasionally kneels, squats


Environmental Conditions:

* Occasional exposure to blood/bodily fluids

  • Frequent exposure to bacteria, viruses, and other infectious agents in dealing with residents, co-workers, family, and public
  • Mandation when necessary (refer to Employee Playbook for policy information)




Compensation details: 16.5-17 Hourly Wage
