SUMMARY:

The G/L Accounting Clerk is responsible for preparation of the non-gaming journal entries and reconciliations for the month-end close.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares journal entries and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary accounts as assigned
  • Responsible for intercompany month-end journal entries in GP
  • Prepares prepaid journal entries and reconciliations
  • Prepares monthly journal entries and input into Great Plains.
  • Prepare month-end comp journal entries
  • Ensures reconciliations for banking accounts are done monthly and adjusting journal entries are done timely. Any major variances are brought to management’s attention immediately.
  • Responsible for scanning all month-end journal entries
  • Assists management with departmental P & L requests
  • Assist with the monthly package preparation
  • Prepares daily banking input for cash reporting.
  • Prepares daily credit card balancing.
  • Prepares and reviews DMR and flash for accuracy prior to distribution.
  • Audits both gaming and non-gaming areas, could be asked to cover AP and AR if necessary.
  • Prepares document tracking and logging for the boxes in the warehouse. Retrieves required documents as needed by internal and external audit.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One-year certificate from a college or technical school; or 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • Casino/Hotel accounting experience preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must be able to effectively communicate in English; have ability to speak effectively after groups of customers or employees of the organization

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must have Microsoft Office experience and basic computer skills.
