Exciting Opportunity for High School Science Teacher near Kodiak, AK!

As a High School Science Teacher, you will have the opportunity to inspire and engage students in the wonders of the natural world. You will guide them through explorations of biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science, and beyond, fostering a deep understanding of scientific concepts and a lifelong appreciation for scientific inquiry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement dynamic and relevant science curriculum that aligns with state standards and reflects the unique environmental and cultural context of Kodiak, Alaska.
  • Design and deliver hands-on laboratory experiments, field trips, and outdoor learning experiences that allow students to explore scientific concepts in real-world contexts.
  • Foster inquiry-based learning and critical thinking skills through interactive discussions, problem-solving activities, and student-led investigations.
  • Integrate technology, multimedia resources, and indigenous knowledge into science instruction to promote cross-cultural understanding and environmental stewardship.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs and interests of students, including those with varying abilities and backgrounds.
  • Establish a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued, respected, and encouraged to participate actively in their learning.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and munity partners to support student success and contribute to the overall school munity.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Science Education, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Valid teaching certification in Science (grades 7-12), with a willingness to obtain Alaska state certification if not already held.
  • Prior experience teaching science at the high school level, preferably in a diverse or rural setting.
  • Strong knowledge of science content and pedagogy, with a passion for hands-on and experiential learning.
  • Excellent munication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and munity members.
  • Dedication to ongoing professional development and a mitment to staying current with best practices in science education.
