Responsibilities

What it takes to be a SPOT WELDER with MEC:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Ability to do basic math
  • Be able to lift and move 50 pounds
  • Must be able to read blueprints
  • Displays ethical behavior and acts with integrity
  • Reliability
  • Ability to train, communicate, and work with others.

What will you be doing as a SPOT WELDER:

  • Determine number of welding points and contact cycles.
  • Regulate current and set automatic timing devices if used.
  • Rig equipment for hold and positioning work.
  • Change and dress electrodes.
  • May work from drawings, specification, samples, and templates.
  • Use rule, square and fixed gauges.
  • Instructions given on procedures and work is subject to process and final inspection.
  • Other duties as assigned
