Job Description

The Department of Digital Sciences and Engineering at Idaho National Laboratory is seeking an eager, data scientist for the emerging Digital Twin Analytics team. Our team works 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off. Remote or Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position. We work with our research customers in the Department of Defense and Department of Energy to create leading edge technologies for our country's most difficult problems for complex energy systems and advanced materials and manufacturing using explainable Artificial Intelligence(AI)/Machine Learning (ML), physics-informed ML, process-informed ML, and hybrid computational architectures (cloud, on-premise, edge-based), and data / sensor fusion methodologies. You will bring a mix of skills including: 1) demonstration of applying advanced analytics for R&D applications 2) interest in energy systems and net-zero carbon 3) ability to publish in technical, peer-reviewed journals. Responsibilities Include:

  • Support the Department and INL in research and development activities.
  • Demonstrate effective research skills and the ability to collaborate and partner with other government agencies, academia, and private sector companies to achieve project objectives.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary team of scientists and engineers on challenging work scope.
  • Publish results of research and development in a mix of refereed publications and conference proceedings.
Qualifications:Minimum Requirements:
  • Level 2: MS and 1 year or PhD of experience in data science, engineering, mathematics, computer science, physics, autonomy, artificial intelligence or related technical disciplines.
  • Level 3: MS and 3 years or PhD and 2 years of experience in data science, engineering, mathematics, computer science, physics, autonomy, artificial intelligence or related technical disciplines.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q Clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

  • Salary Grade: 210 $95,928 $127,080 $158,232/220 $110,316 $146,136 $181,956

  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
