This position is responsible for leading the day-to-day activities for self and other the delivery drivers by providing excellent service to customers in an efficient, timely and safe manner. Incumbent will serve as a backup to manager in daily office operations.
Responsibilities:
- Has responsibility for leading the daily activities and schedules for all drivers.
- As a driver, will load, secure, transport, deliver, and unload propane to and from specified destinations.
- Will be point- person for notifying manager and assist with scheduling needed equipment, supplies, or routine maintenance of trucks and vehicles.
- Prepares and maintains records in accordance with regulations and company procedures.
- Assists other drivers in handling and maintaining the flow of materials and products under strict safety guidelines.
- Leads activities for maintaining Service Center office and plant or yard for a professional appearance.
- Operates truck in accordance with established safety procedures.
- During daily interaction with customers, ensures both self and other drivers provide exceptional customer service by supplying service information and answering inquiries and questions.
- Requires on-call rotation for after-hours and weekend emergency deliveries or response.
- Leads all activities related to tank inspections, painting, repairs and loading of tanks.
- Assists manager in assigned planning and day-to-day operations of company.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Three years related driving experience with Class A or B CDL with a good driving record required. NOTE: A Hazmat Endorsement also required (or the ability to obtain quickly upon hire)
- Two years supervisory experience required
- Experience in the propane industry strongly preferred
- Must have good financial acumen and a solid understanding of the business
- Must possess outstanding customer service skills
- Must have excellent organizational and time management skills
- Must possess drive, determination, professionalism, excellent people skills, and the desire to be a significant factor in continuing to grow the business
- Must be able to pass multiple pre-employment tests, including a background check and a Physical Capabilities Profile assessment.
- Must have reliable transportation and the ability to be at work even in adverse weather conditions.
- Must have experience using computers including email and other applications required.
- Regular and dependable attendance is an essential function of this position.
- Position requires working in all types of weather; must have the ability to work extended day hours, evening hours and weekends as needed in high peak season.
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to sit and drive for extended periods.
- Will routinely stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Regularly lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
