Summary:

Reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, the Manufacturing Automation Engineer is responsible for identifying, leading, and driving improvements throughout manufacturing centered on safety, compliance, product quality, throughput, and yield. The Manufacturing Automation Engineer will work cross functionally to resolve complex issues that impact manufacturing capability in a pharmaceutical environment.


Essential Functions:


  • Responsible for writing and reviewing User Requirement Specification documents for new equipment.
  • Manage all aspects of equipment procurement and engineering design: mechanical, electrical, safety, PLC/HMI/Robotic programming.
  • Interface with multi vendors for equipment procurement and installation.
  • Evaluate and provide economic justification of projects.
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams, leading a project from conception to completion.
  • Troubleshoot, support, and continuously improve existing automated solutions.
  • Generate procedures and work instructions to prescribed style and format.
  • Provide technical guidance on facility expansion projects to support future automation needs.
  • Participation in Poke-Yokes and Kaizens.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, Automation, or Electrical Engineering required.
  • Minimum of 3 years hands on experience implementing automation in a manufacturing setting.
  • Fluency in one or more Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) languages required.
  • Experience in workflow optimization, work measurement, efficiencies.
  • Experience designing mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling in CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) preferred.
  • Experience with automated vision inspections (Keyence, Cognex etc.) preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma training/experience/certification preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to effectively problem solve.
  • Deep understanding of principles, methodologies, and concepts related to process development, process validation, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to successfully prioritize and manage large projects, deadlines, and tasks while working independently or with a team.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project)
  • Ability to take strategic objectives and accept accountability to drive results through effective actions.
  • Knowledge of cGMP plant operations preferred.
