JOB SUMMARY: As a host/hostess your job is to make sure guests feel “more than welcome” in our restaurant. This must be done with genuine warmth and friendliness toward each guest. It is important that you make every attempt to accommodate guest reservations and requests. Always make it point to acknowledge each party by name as they are entering and leaving the restaurant to ensure a positive, lasting impression. You will work to create the highest guest satisfaction possible following W.A.R’s standardized policies and procedures. As an employee you are a public relations representative of Wood. Ash. Rye. because of the many guests you will meet. You are always expected to represent our restaurant and company in a positive light.

SCOPE OF DUTIES: Hosts/Hostesses must be on time and in compliance with our Host/Hostess Dress Code. They must also maintain a positive, professional approach and always project an attitude of enthusiasm and energy.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Host/Hostess responsibilities include, but are not limited to, making our guests feel welcomed, whether on the phone or at the door. In addition, the Host/Hostess are also responsible for quoting proper wait times and adhering to them. The Host/Hostess must have knowledge of the food and beverage offerings of the restaurant. Host/Hostess are also responsible for helping team members in any capacity at any time possible.

TEAMWORK: An attitude of teamwork and flexibility for assigned duties is expected. This job function requires constant communication between team members each shift. Service should not be disrupted because of lack of communication or cooperation between team members.

CONTROL: Host/Hostess’s job truly determines the flow of the restaurant. In order to manage a proper flow, the Host/Hostess must always monitor the capacity of the kitchen and of the servers, ensuring a quality dining experience for our guests. You are responsible for monitoring the cover count and allowing NO MORE than 20 guests per 15-minute increment. This will allow for a proper flow of guests for both the chefs and the servers to provide an excellent dining experience for our guests.

SAFETY: All employees are required to wear non-slip shoes. All employees are expected to communicate any safety hazards to management in a timely manner. If any piece of equipment appears to be unsafe or is not in proper working order, cease utilizing that equipment and report it to a manager immediately. Store all equipment in its proper place after each use. Be aware of any ice or water on the floor, glass breaks, or spills in any area. Any employee who has created a break or spill, must either stay with the hazard, or instruct someone to stay with the hazard until it is cleaned up, to ensure no injury as a result.

Station Breakdown: At the end of your shift, it is your responsibility to leave host stand in order and to do a final check and restock of the restrooms as well as any other duties assigned to you.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be Serve Safe Certified.

WORK YEAR:

  • This is a full-time position.

PHYSICALITY:

This position is extremely physical in nature. All employees must expect the following for sustained periods during each work shift:

    • Sustained standing, walking, bending, stooping, lifting of potentially heavy loads, sitting, twisting, etc.
    • Working indoors and outdoors, in various climates including extreme heat, cold, rain, and snow.
