PRIMARY FUNCTION

Receives, conveys, stores, selects and ships materials by performing the following duties.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Unloads, sorts, inspects, counts, labels, records, conveys and stores incoming goods. Retrieves samples of material.
  • Compares receiving documents and packing lists with purchase orders and a physical count. Notes any discrepancies and brings them to supervisor's attention.
  • Selects, inspects, assembles, packages, labels, conveys, records, and loads outgoing material for
  • shipment or customer pick-up. Must layout loads to meet company requirements and satisfaction.
  • Compares shipping documents with customer orders and a physical count. Notes any discrepancies and brings them to supervisor's attention.
  • Completes customer pick-up transactions including collection of C.O.D. monies.
  • Assists in periodic inventories and cycle counts as directed.
  • Performs housekeeping and maintenance duties as directed.
  • Operates and inspects powered and unpowered material handling equipment and hoists. Reports
  • any visual or mechanical defects to supervisor.
  • Responsible for keeping work area clean.
  • Follows all safety rules and procedures.
  • Performs activities in accordance with the procedures outlined in the work instructions.
  • Needs to be prepared for weather conditions inside and outside. Need to have the proper attire.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Must maintain a forklift/tow motor certification.
