PAY RATES FOR THI JOB HAVE RECENTLY INCREASED.  STARTING RATE IS NOW $20.20
 
Under the direction of the Unit Manager or Charge Nurse provides resident care to assigned resident as outlined by each individual resident plan of care.
 
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
 
  • Provides good personal hygiene to residents; bathes, dresses, toilets residents as indicates by their individualized care plan.  Gives shampoos, hair care, shaves residents, trims nails, enemas and assists residents with personal and dental hygiene.
  • Assures the residents are properly and comfortably clothed.  
  • Accurately documents care given to residents in the care tracker, assignment sheets, and other appropriate records.  Informs charge/unit manager if resident care card needs updating.
  • Encourages independence with activities of daily living and other self-help measures and activities. 
  • Performs personal services for residents within reason, such as reading to them, writing letters for them, operating televisions and radio, assisting them with recreational and occupational therapy projects.  May run errands.  Promotes comfort, security and rehabilitation. 
  • Assists residents with menu selection when indicated. Serves meals and assists residents with theirs meals and documents intake. Serves nourishments, fresh water or snacks from hospitality carts as scheduled or between meals.
  • Performs and records temperatures, pulse, respirations, collects specimens such as urine, stool and sputum . 
  • Adheres to Skin Care Programs Protocol including weekly skin check on bath day.
  • Promptly responds to resident’s communication system (Call Lights).
  • Transports residents to various Home departments or accompanies residents to outside appointments.
  • Assists with restorative and rehabilitative care of the residents.
  • Fosters teamwork and interacts with peers to maintain an ongoing working rapport across all shifts.
  • Orients and instructs new personnel to policies and procedures and to the functioning of the unit as directed
  • Adheres to standard precautions to prevent spread of disease and infections control standards
  • Complies with departmental policies and procedures.  Complies with the DOH/Federal regulations and guidelines.
  • Attends in-services to keep current, knowledgeable, and remain compliant with requirement of mandatories and one hour per month.
  • On any scheduled shift, you may be required to work past your regularly scheduled hours as directed by your Supervisor. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
 
  • Graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program
  • Previous Geriatric CNA experience preferred
  • Current Nursing Assistant Certification required
  • Able to maintain confidential information.
  • Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner. 
  • Must be able to relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset and at times, angry people within the facility.
 

Personal Requirements

  • Appropriate attire as required by departmental dress code.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Complies with code of conduct and proper badge identification

 
Physical Requirements
 
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
  • Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours
  • Must be in good health, be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of this position

Demonstrates knowledge of and adheres to LCCN policies and HIPAA regulations governing the confidentiality and security of protected health information for both manual and electronic resident records, charts, information and other confidential information including (but not limited to) employee records, computer access codes and passwords.
