Landfill Maintenance Worker

Company Overview: Our client has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Landfill Maintenance Worker for the leachate plant in Port Orange.

Position Summary: The ideal candidate for the position is a reliable worker, who can perform physically-demanding duties (lots of lifting involved) and has experience with using cleaning tools (such as lawnmower, weed eater, power washer, hand tools, etc.)

• Maintain plant grounds; Weeding around tanks, pick up blown trash, keep tank pads clean.
  
• Hose foam in aerationand equalization tank several times a shift.
  
• Clean and hose drying beds.
  
• Chip and wire brush rusted areas of tanks and piping, prime and paint.
  
• Keep tank railings clean.
  
• Oump rainwater and keep clean chemical containment area.
  
• Maintain full level of defoamer in day tank, notify operator of Stenner pump malfunctions.
  
• Assist operator as needed.
  
• Maintain cleanliness and organize Conex storage area.
  
• Maintain cleanliness of polymer shed area.
  
• Keep generator exterior clean.
  
• Keep walkways clear of grass and algae growth.
  
• Keep the control room cleaned and organized.
  
• Clean mud and grasses from operator's truck after visits to the spray field.
  
• Performs related work as required.
  

Job Requirements:

• Graduation from high school or possession of a GED.
  
• At least 2 years of relevant experience.
  
• Ability to endure physically demanding work for a prolonged time.
  
• Be a dedicated, Detail Oriented, and Hardworking Individual as well as an outstanding team player with strong interpersonal skills.
  

Physical Demands: Ability to see, talk, stand, walk, reach; finger dexterity, lots of bending required.

Environmental Demands: Ability to tolerate odors, fumes, and dust.

Mental Demands: Ability to perform general and shop math. Ability to read letters, memos, work orders, balance sheets, instructions, rules and procedures. Ability to speak clearly and concisely. Ability to write complex sentences relaying information, data, details, instructions, etc.
