Drayage Dispatcher

Givens Transportation is searching for a skilled Dispatcher with a deep understanding of drayage operations at the Ports of Virginia (PoV). Our drayage team is primarily managing deliveries through Trinium, our Drayage Transportation Management System, and maintaining information within several customer portals and proprietary systems. As a Dispatcher, this role's primary responsibility will involve Long Haul Drayage from the PoV. This includes managing delivery appointments, obtaining overweight permits when necessary, and assigning drivers for seamless operations. Additionally, the candidate will provide coverage for our Local Drayage team during vacations. Our business extends beyond the PoV, reaching Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, and we are actively seeking to grow our drayage operations at the Georgia Port Authority (Garden City/Savannah) and South Carolina Ports (Charleston SC). This position will a play a key role in expanding our drayage operations to these ports.

Requirements

• Maintain information within our Transportation Management System (TMS)
• Tracking & tracing Containers
• Managing port appointments to retrieve containers
• Assigning loads to drivers
• Notifying drivers of compliance needs (Inspections, License expirations, etc.)
• Communicating with customers on the status of deliveries
• Entering and maintaining delivery milestones within customer portals
• Delivery notifications
• Troubleshooting problems preventing a pickup or delivery
• Clearing container holds (Customs/Line/etc.)
• Obtaining necessary permits – primarily overweight depending on the states of travel

Capabilities

• Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
• Technology /Systems – Past Experience with and Understanding of Transportation Management Systems (TMS), Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office 365 Environments (SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, etc.)
• Logistics – Foundational understanding of Asset Motor Carrier Operations ideally related to Drayage Operations

Past Experience Required:

• 1 Year Experience in Drayage Operations
