Job Title: Residential Aide/CBRF (C.N.A. Required)

Location: Wauwatosa, WI
Schedule: 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shift available
Hours: Full-time or Part-time
Pay: $16.00 per hour
Shift differentials for pm/night shifts and benefit eligibility after 20+ hours weekly
Job Standards
b. Oral hygiene
c. Grooming including nails, hair, shaving, etc.
d. Dressing and undressing
e. Assistance with management of incontinence including toileting
f. Apartment organizing, laundry, and light housekeeping
b. Signing for transfer of keys, pagers, and cell phones.
c. Completing narcotics counts with outgoing staff member and documenting same.
b. Completion of electronic documentation.
c. Completion of incident report/statement.
b. Applying ointments and creams per physician’s orders.
c. Applying elastic stockings, ace wraps, bandages, etc. per physician’s orders
d. Providing assistance with oxygen and refilling oxygen tanks.
e. Collecting urine and stool specimens.
b. Reporting any unusual situations to management and/or security.

Job Standards
- High school diploma or GED preferred - C.N.A. Required
- At least one year experience in a Community Based Residential Facility (CBRF)-setting preferred.
- CBRF certifications (Standard Precautions, Fire Safety, First Aid, and Medication Administration) completed, per Wisconsin Administrative Code Chapter DHS 83 requirements.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with use of tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
- Ability to read and comprehend written documentation and instruction related to services and medication assistance. Ability to communicate clearly/professionally in writing.
- Ability to safely perform essential functions of the job without harm to self or others with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Adheres to the philosophy, policies, and procedures of St Camillus.
- Understands and supports the Resident Rights/Resident Bill of Rights.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures regarding resident/client and staff safety.
- Understands and supports the St. Camillus Code of Conduct and Employee Job Behaviors.
- Remains awake and alert, and is focused on resident needs at all times throughout scheduled shift.
- Performs personal care and other basic services within the guidelines established in the Care Quality Expectations. Care and services may include, but are not limited to:
b. Oral hygiene
c. Grooming including nails, hair, shaving, etc.
d. Dressing and undressing
e. Assistance with management of incontinence including toileting
f. Apartment organizing, laundry, and light housekeeping
- Documents all care and services provided per policy and procedure.
- At the beginning of each shift worked, completes shift transition duties including:
b. Signing for transfer of keys, pagers, and cell phones.
c. Completing narcotics counts with outgoing staff member and documenting same.
- Completes dining room responsibilities including setting tables, serving meals, and cleaning up after meals as assigned.
- Assists residents in meeting nutritional needs by:
- Monitoring resident intake and completing meal tracking documentation as assigned.
- Weighing residents and recording weight as scheduled; reporting any significant weight gain/loss
- Providing residents with reminders to attend meals as needed, as well as setting a meal set aside when resident is unable to attend a meal in the dining room.
- Delivering meal trays to residents' rooms as necessary.
- Providing cueing or other special assistance (cutting up food, etc.) to residents who require this in order to eat adequately.
- Under the supervision of the nurse, provides assistance with medication administration including:
- Giving resident medication accurately as ordered, per policy and procedure.
- Documenting all medication assistance provided.
- Completing vitals (pulse, blood pressure, accuchecks, temperature, spo2) as they relate to providing medication assistance per physician’s orders and nurse’s instructions.
- Immediately reporting any medication errors made or discovered.
- Noting, documenting, and reporting any medication side effects or adverse reactions observed or reported by residents, as well as any resident refusals to take medication.
- Completes laundry and cleaning duties as scheduled and within the guidelines established.
- Carries a pager and cell phone to respond to resident calls within a timely manner and per Assisted Living policies and procedures.
- Assists in the provision of leisure activities, including but not limited to:
- Accompanying residents on outings.
- Conducting scheduled and unscheduled leisure activities.
- Gathering residents for and encouraging participation in activities.
- Providing residents with one-on-one attention as time allows.
- Observes, reports, and documents changes in resident condition/status through:
b. Completion of electronic documentation.
c. Completion of incident report/statement.
- Practices effective infection control measures per policy and procedure, including but not limited to:
- Appropriate linen/laundry handling.
- Frequent hand washing.
- Utilization of Standard Precautions.
- Utilization of appropriate isolation precautions per Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and nurse instructions.
- Maintaining compliance with campus tuberculosis (TB) testing policy.
- Appropriate utilization of common refrigerators.
- Maintains an orderly, sanitary, and safe environment by:
- Reporting safety hazards immediately to management, environmental services, or a member of the Campus Safety Committee.
- Tidying/straightening Wellness Center, medication carts, copy rooms, laundry rooms, and staff desk areas on a regular basis.
- Providing assistance to residents in performing simple housekeeping tasks such as straightening apartment, removing soiled clothing/personal care products, emptying trash, removing spoiled food, and bed making.
- Reporting on-going issues/concerns to Supervisors.
- Reporting all maintenance/housekeeping needs in a timely manner.
- Assists in the provision of health-related services as directed by the nurse, including but not limited to:
b. Applying ointments and creams per physician’s orders.
c. Applying elastic stockings, ace wraps, bandages, etc. per physician’s orders
d. Providing assistance with oxygen and refilling oxygen tanks.
e. Collecting urine and stool specimens.
- Utilizes appropriate body mechanics in the completion of all job duties. Carries and utilizes a gait belt per policy and procedure.
- Accepts responsibility for initial and on-going resident orientation and adjustment to the facility.
- Establishes and maintains open/supportive/collaborative communication with peers, members of other departments and of the multidisciplinary team, residents, and families. Promotes a working environment that encourages teamwork and discourages gossip.
- Maintains confidentiality of resident information.
- Assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment by:
b. Reporting any unusual situations to management and/or security.
- Completes rounds, checking on the safety and well-being of residents.
- Completes all mandatory training and ongoing in-services (fifteen [15] hours annually).
- Complies with all required training and participates in all mandatory meetings.
- Reports to the emergency panel to check the source of the alarm.
- Follows the directions given by the person coordinating the emergency response.
- Follows policy and procedure of Assisted Living in responding to any emergency.
- Assists with clerical functions as assigned by the DON, Nursing Supervisor, and/or RA Supervisor.
- Participates on committees when available and as required.
- Other duties as requested by the supervisor.
