Job Description
This is a full time position located at the 3 Mile location of MLIH in Logan, WV.
POSITION PURPOSE:
To provide skilled nursing services under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice registered nurse or physician. The service must be provided within the scope and standards of state and federal law.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Routine monitoring of specific medical symptoms such as seizures, bowel habits, blood pressure, diet and exercise.
Consult with the registered nurse to seek guidance in delivery of nursing care.
Monitor and review MARS, medication storage, and documentation.
Follow physician orders when administering medication.
Direct nursing care including medication/treatment administration.
Function as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team for each patient.
Participate in relevant continuing competence activities to maintain current knowledge and skill levels in practical nursing as required by 10 CSR 6, Continuing Competence.
Facilitate procurement of and monitoring of medical equipment.
Ensure medical appointments have been kept and information communicated to all others per agency policy.
Enter data electronically into clinical recordkeeping and billing systems and record all events involving patients and patients of MLIH on a daily basis.
Perform testing, including nasal swabs and nasopharyngeal swabs, as needed.
Work COVID-19 testing sites, as needed.
Nurses have a key role in Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) and care of patients with chronic medical conditions, by performing the following duties (including, but not limited to):
Triage patients and their calls.
Provide patient education and clinical advice at the direction of the provider
Assist in managing and carrying out patient plan of care.
Administer injections.
Manage patient rooms- take vital signs, document chief complaint and history of present illness (HPI), and review and reconcile medications.
Assist provider in medication refills.
Communicate test results to patients.
Assist in identifying preventative care needs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and registered with the State Board of Examiners for Licensed Practical Nurses. CPR and First Aid are renewed every two years.
