  • Hours are Part Time. Shifts are at an on-call basis, when needed

Summary:


The Transport Officer is a vital member providing transport services to various clients of GSSC. This person is responsible for performing a variety of task per the needs of the client, which include transports from medical facilities to various secured and unsecured destinations and transfers between different county facilities or placement sites. Transport Officers work alongside county and health system staff to coordinate drop off and pick up assignments. Transport Officers will be required to provide thorough documentation of all daily activities, mileage, pick up, drop off locations, and investigations of incidents.


Transport officer Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide safe and secure transportation of individuals to and from treatment, state agencies and private facilities.
  • Ensure all transport documents and medical records are always safeguarded during transport.
  • Demonstrate and maintain safe driving practices.
  • Ensure compliance with transport procedures and protocols as assigned.
  • Complete trip logs and vehicle inspection forms prior to and after each trip.
  • Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections and ensure all required equipment for transport is present in vehicles and report and safety related transportation issues immediately.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, and injuries related to transportation functions to the supervisor.
  • Maintain ongoing communications with GSSC Dispatch.
  • Complete all transportation forms for each trip and provide to the supervisor.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Transport Officer Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must have High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must be a US Citizen or an Alien lawfully authorized to work in the United States
  • Must pass State & Federal background checks and drug screen
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, pass Motor Vehicle Record Check, and maintain appropriate driving record.
  • Must successfully complete GSSC Basic Training.
  • Ability to meet and maintain applicable state, county, and municipal licensing requirements
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), administrative, customer service and organizational skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking.
  • Ability to project a professional and positive attitude while maintaining confidentiality.

Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements:

With or without reasonable accommodation, the physical and mental requirements of the job may include the following:

  • Seeing, hearing, speaking, and writing clearly.
  • Occasional reaching with hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, and walking, which may be required for long periods of time, and may involve climbing stairs and walking up inclines and on uneven terrain.
  • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds and occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to push, pull or drag and adult to safety from hazardous situations.
  • Although most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities are subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle for extended periods of time, while frequently safely entering and exiting the motor vehicle.
  • Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county, and municipal licensing requirements for Security Officers.
