Qualification Requirements
- Two (2) years of experience in Family Medicine/Family Practice (adult) as a Physician Assistant within the last three (3) years, including direct patient care in a public or private institution/facility.
- Possession and maintenance of a current and valid license issued by the Physician Assistant Board to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of California, including adherence to all laws and regulations governing the practice of Physician Assistants.
- Proficiency in the English language is necessary for effective communication with the Department of Corrections staff.
Specialty Services Requirements:
- Temporary/Relief Physician Assistants working in specialized areas such as emergency medicine, surgery, etc., must have at least two (2) years of experience providing patient care within that setting.
- Those providing services to female Institutions/Facilities must have at least one (1) year of experience in obstetric and gynecological nursing or patient care services within the last five (5) years.
Service Delivery Requirements:
- Provide high-quality services consistent with established standards and principles of medical practice.
- Adhere to department medical staff by-laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Comply with universal infection control precautions.
Authorization and Clinical Reviews:
- Obtain prior authorization for treatment and transportation/transfers as required by law and department policies.
- Perform clinical reviews as requested by supervisors, including participation in Professional Practice Committee activities.
