We are looking for a strong Production Supervisor to join our team.

Petmate/Doskocil Mfg., Inc was founded in 1960 as an innovative manufacturer and supplier of crates and kennels used by the airline industry to transport pets. Over the years, the Company added individual consumers to its market strategy and expanded its product offerings, both domestically and internationally. The Company is headquartered in Arlington, Texas, in the heart of the Dallas/Ft. Worth ‘Metroplex’. The Corporate Headquarters is located within walking distance to the iconic AT&T Stadium, home of the 5-time Super Bowl Champion Dallas Cowboys, and The Ballpark in Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers baseball club. DFW Airport is also nearby. Our Manufacturing facility is located in Arlington, Texas.

POSITION SUMMARY

Oversees and directs the daily operation of the Production Department ensuring accuracy and efficiency.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)

  1. Optimize customer service through teamwork and communication
  1. Perform team management duties to include coaching, training, disciplinary action, safety practices, and scheduling and motivating
  1. Drives production improvement to meet department OEE goals
  1. Produce schedule products to specifications
  1. Oversees and maintains high levels of housekeeping
  1. Meet daily with off going and oncoming supervisors to ensure priorities are met
  1. Plan and coordinate the distribution of labor, adjusting work assignments and schedules while responding to fluctuating production needs. Works closely with HR for staffing requirements
  1. Supervises, evaluates, promotes, and enforces compliance with company safety policies/rules/procedures
  1. Ensures employees have the training tools, equipment and information to meet production expectations
  1. Manage daily labor efficiencies, downtime, scrap, and part quality
  1. Manage payroll, break schedules, and vacations for the shift
  1. Implement visual work place through Lean Six Sigma principles

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises employees in the Production Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A leader who can motivate, train, drive accountability, and flexible enough to adapt to change
  • Experience in station layout designs and single piece flow
  • Understanding our metrics of OEE, Scrap, Safety, and Quality
  • Experience in developing plan B, C, and D scenarios
  • Plastic injection molding experience a plus

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or general education degree and minimum 5 years of supervisor experience and capable of supervising 140 plus people in multiple departments.

  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

  • Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of database software; spreadsheet and word processing Microsoft Office software; Mattec and Oracle.
