Description:

The CNC Machinist is responsible for setting up machines and following prints/specifications for the purpose of making and repairing tools for Global Polymer and customers. Assigned machines may include; lathes, grinders, mills and similar equipment in a manufacturing environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential functions are those tasks, duties, and responsibilities that comprise the means of accomplishing the job’s purpose and objectives. Essential functions are critical or fundamental to the performance of the job. They are the major functions for which the person in the job is held accountable.

  • Sets up VMCs and lathes for efficient and accurate production of tools. Follows instructions, documented processes, and training procedures to accurately produce tools that meet quality standards.
  • Chooses, aligns, and securely attaches holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and other materials on machines.
  • Applies knowledge of mathematics and instruments to calculate dimensions and tolerances.
  • Identifies malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining; adjusts controls of machine to correct errors.
  • Inspects and measures completed production units to identify defects caused by machine setup.
  • Starts or restarts equipment after power outages or interruptions that are not safety related.
  • Maintains a safe and orderly production area.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, and asks for help to resolve issues with equipment, devices, or products.
  • Uses precision instruments to measure and verify quality production of parts per specification.
  • Ensures compliance with Global Polymer safety practices by wearing PPE and following specific job hazard controls.
  • Offers suggestions for productivity improvement and workflow processes.
  • Maintains quality specifications and quantity output and is accountable for both.
  • Monitors machines and equipment.
  • Cleans machinery and maintains a clean work area.
  • Conducts sorting activities to count and verify items.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

EDUCATION & TRAINING REQUIREMENTS


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Associate’s degree in Machining Technology is preferred
  • At least 2 years CNC Machinist experience with mills and lathes required
