Vapor Power/Precision Boilers is in search of a Quality Engineer who will play a critical role in ensuring the production of high-quality products in compliance with ASME code for pressure vessels and ISO9001 quality system requirements. In this hands-on position, the primary responsibility is to execute all ASME essential duties and responsibilities, while also supporting the effective execution of QMS processes to enhance performance and cost-effectiveness. This role requires maintaining positive cross-functional partnerships and offers excellent learning and development opportunities in a growing company.

As a Quality Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the production of top-notch products through effective quality control measures.

This is an onsite position in Morristown, TN.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure effective processes and controls are in place to safeguard production compliance to ASME code requirements for Pressure Vessels ensuring product meets regulatory and customer specifications and requirements prior to shipment.
  • Conducting and/or coordinating successful and timely completion of applicable ASME product testing requirements and reporting results.
  • Consolidate product verification and validation reports/records per ASME/QMS requirements.
  • Verify product drawings and specifications in compliance with ASME requirements.
  • Owns and manages the ASME Welder training/certification program.
  • Conducts and reviews periodic evaluations of processes to ensure Quality requirements and controls.
  • Process owner for Customer Complaints, leads all aspects of the investigation process (Root Cuse Analysis (RCA) and Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) process for Franklin Park, IL and Morristown, TN facilities.
  • Manages a consolidated tracking and reporting system for quality product/process data; performs monthly analysis reports of performance (KPIs) for Franklin Park, IL and Morristown, TN.
  • Participates in programs aimed at continuous improvement and standardization.
  • Travel domestically 5%.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) or equivalent technological discipline such as Industrial, Electrical, certification and/or 5+ years of hands-on/applied working knowledge of ASME code for Pressure Vessels.
  • Strong knowledge and/or demonstrated hands-on experience with ISO 9001 QMS regulated processes.
  • Experience reading, interpreting, and reviewing engineering drawings and GD&T, understanding engineering mechanical protocols and regulations, engineering calculations and specifications.
  • Proficient with MS Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio)
  • Proven record of KPI implementation and reporting (dashboards).
  • Ability to deal with and manage multiple tasks and responsibilities and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical and technical problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to effectively work with various cross-functions and levels in the organization, ability to positively influence others.

Skills and Abilities:

The following skills and abilities (or certifications) are not required but preference shall be given to candidates that meet the preferred standards.

  • ASQ - CQE
  • Use of Tableau, Power BI or similar.
  • ISO 9001:2015 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or, 3-5 years of LEAN implementation/application experience for process improvement and standardization.
  • Working knowledge of FMEA, Control Plan, RCA, Process Control, Product Evaluation and Auditing
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Team player-minded, communicative, proactive, stress-resistant, assertive

Physical Demands: This position requires moderate lifting and walking. Annual eye exams are also required and are covered by Vapor Power.

Work Environment: This position must perform tasks that involve spending all his/her time in the plant with low to moderate exposure to noise, heat, and cold environment, other physical requirements include walking, bending, hand dexterity, speaking, seeing, and lifting/moving up to 20 pounds. Steel toe shoes, earplugs and safety glasses are always required while on the production floor. Exposure to sitting behind a desk performing tasks on a computer is minimum.
