Machinist – Lathe Setup Operator
Long-term contract position for a Machinist-Lathe Setup Operator. This position could become a Furst-to-Hire opportunity! Our client manufactures small parts for the aerospace industry.
Hours: 7am to 3:30pm, but can be flexible with a start time between 6am and 9am
Pay: $22.50/hour
Machinist-Lathe Setup Operator Responsibilities:
- Set up production machines following prints and specifications; assigned machines may include lathes, grinders, mills, and similar equipment
- Choose, align, and securely attach holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and other materials on machines
- Apply knowledge of mathematics and instruments to calculate dimensions and tolerances
- Identify malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining; adjusts controls of machine to correct errors
- Inspect and measure completed production units to identify defects
- Start or restart equipment after power outages or interruptions
Machinist-Lathe Setup Operator Requirements:
- Able to read blueprints, use calipers, mics, and pin gauges
- Forklift experience a plus
- Able to stand on feet all day and operate several machines
- Able to speak, read and write in English
- Demonstrate understanding of AS/ISO/IATF/Medical production procedures
- Able to interpret and translate engineering designs and documentation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Able to complete accurate documentation and work on computers
- Flexible to work overtime or change shifts as required
- Able to move, push, pull, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly over entire shift
- Able to walk, stand, bend, twist, and sit for entire shift
