General Description

This position is accountable to Food Services Manager and Food Services Director. Works most closely with the following internal staff to effectively meet customer needs: Charge Nurses, NACs, Lead Housekeeper, and other Dietary staff. The Main External Customer Contact will include: Residents and their family & friends, Volunteers, and Food Vendors.

Duties and Responsibilities

Job Specific-

  • Prepares and cooks regular and specialized meals for residents and employees of institution.
  • Cooks food in quantities according to the menu and number of persons to be served.
  • Required to serve meals and direct activities of one or more workers who assist in preparing and serving meals.
  • Prepare various foods in accordance with menu created by the chef and dietitians, for each meal of the day.
  • Operate kitchen equipment in preparation for meals.
  • Required to clean work areas and floors following shift and cover, label, date and store unused foods.
  • Employee is required to use institutional size cookware.
  • Required to record information accurately on the appropriate logs.
  • Must be able to work at an appropriate pace to ensure the food is ready for each meal of the day.
  • May be required to assist with ordering supplies.
  • Employee is required to handle food throughout the day and will work with a variety of food types daily such as meat, fruits, vegetables, canned foods, bread, pasta, etc.

Schedule:

11:30am- 7:30pm Wednesday-- Saturday (with a 5th day option available)

Wage:

The pay scale for this position is from $19.50/hr. up to $22.71/hr. depending on relatable experience as determined by the supervisor and HR.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
