Job Description

Summary

This position performs precision machining and repair of new and used parts to enable continuous factory operations

Essential Job Duties

  • Identify and repair worn and broken parts
  • Have an understanding of the layout of MDFC
  • Machining and manufacturing of new parts
  • Assure that all work areas are kept clean within the food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Continuing development and upgrading of machine shop skills through training and education including new technology
  • Use people, time, equipment, and material in the most efficient manner
  • Safety glasses and approved footwear are to be worn in the machine shop at all times
  • Other duties as required by the company.
  • Good attendance, safety, disciplinary, and overall employment records
  • Adhere to all company policies and all safety, food safety, feed safety, and sanitation rules and programs

Qualifications

  • Two-year certificate or diploma from an approved trade or technical school; or five to six years of experience in a machine shop. Manual machining with some CNC experience preferred.
  • Should be motivated, willing, enthusiastic, and promotable.
  • Good attendance, safety, disciplinary, and overall employment records.
  • Ability to communicate and work cohesively with others.
  • Demonstrated leadership and judgment.
  • Expert knowledge and performance in the following skill areas are required:
  1. Mathematics and measurement
  2. Reading blueprints, shop drawings, and symbols
  3. Use of precision hand tools and equipment
  4. Work planning, scheduling, and setup
  5. Cutting tool grinding (high speed and carbide)
  6. All machine shop turning operations
  7. Milling and indexed milling operations
  8. Taper turning
  9. Thread cutting
  10. Cold spray and fused coating operations (willing to train)
  • Organized with excellent time management skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels

Acquired Tools

  • A basic inventory of approved precision hand tools and toolbox, including but not limited to the following:
  1. Travel and Test Indicator
  2. Combination square set
  3. Thread Gauge (Fishtail)
  4. Outside calipers ranging from 0” – 6”
  5. Thread gauge set – Metric and Standard
  6. Outside micrometers 0” – 6”
  7. Center punch

Physical Demands and Expectations

• Able to stand or walk on concrete floors for an entire eight hour shift if necessary

• Able to bend and lift – 20 to 50 pounds
