Job Description

This position is for a Pharmacy Technician /Data Entry Position (input prescriptions) in a private Medical Office, not a pharmacy.

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for ensuring that all prescriptions are put in daily and handling any customer service or pharmacy issues that may arise. Some of the duties include cross checking patient information, data entry, putting in prescriptions, handling missing items in packages or tracking information, while keeping multiple, ongoing filing systems and performing other administrative tasks.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists the direct supervisor in putting in medical prescriptions.
  • Assists with Data Entry.
  • Assist Patients and their Families with medication and other Customer service duties.
  • Orders pharmaceuticals and receive/stock drugs.
  • Completes pharmacy reports not limited to inventory reports and cross reference pharmacy billing as detailed by directing supervisor.
  • Keeps EMR systems updated for multiple procedures/processes.
  • Other duties as assigned and modified at manager’s discretion.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to type at least 60+ wpm
  • Ability to multi task, operate phones, computer, software and other IT systems
  • Ability to communicate and work with doctors, patients and other team members in a professional manner
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail and to ensure accuracy of reports and data entry of patient demographics and addresses
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong interpersonal & mathematical skills
  • Compounding Experience - a plus
  • Must have experience with a MAC

EDUCATION / SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School or equivalent required
  • Pharmacy technician certification
  • Minimum one (1) year of experience in a pharmacy setting
