Job Description
PrideStaff is actively seeking candidates to assist a key client located in N. Sacramento.
This is a temp to hire position, working a day shift. The position primarily focuses on building crates to house and ship large materials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Crate Building-
- Build crates to ship product
- Experience with various saws (table saw, skill saw, jig saw) and nail guns preferred.
- Good knowledge of measurements
- Properly band product onto crate
- FL certified to move product around warehouse.
Shipping:
- Assemble wooden or cardboard containers or selects preassembled containers, and safely packages parts.
- Determines method of shipment.
- Prepares shipping documents: packing lists, bills of lading, etc. Updates shipping log. Records lot numbers and/or job numbers as appropriate.
- Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes shipping labels on packed containers.
- Communicates with shipping and freight companies to arrange pick-ups.
- Loads trucks with forklift.
Receiving:
- Unloads trucks with forklift.
- Inspect incoming packages for external damage prior to signing for delivery. Photograph and document all damaged receipts and decline receipt as appropriate. Note any signs of damage on the bill of lading.
- Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
- Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
- Request missing paperwork and place packages on hold until required information is collected.
- Assigns lot numbers, updates receiving log, updates database, stamps, annotates, and routes pack lists and other documents as appropriate.
- Deliver packages to correct recipients or locations.
Material Handling:
- Track inventory of company supplies and complete purchase requisitions to replenish supplies.
- Pick, deliver, and stage material to jobs in WIP.
- Transfer material from WIP into inventory.
- Maintain inventory locations and keep inventory areas organized.
- Control picking of materials and ensure physical inventory matches ERP inventory.
- Conduct routine cycle counts.
Education and/or Experience: One-year certificate from college or technical school; or one year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Email software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Current Driver's License
- Class IV Forklift Certified
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Familiar with UPS and FedEx shipping requirements
- Experienced with inventory control systems
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
