BMG is a capital equipment manufacturer of highly engineered thermoforming machines used in the conversion of plastic and paper sheets into high-value-add products. Our equipment has been made in the USA for over 70 years and we have thermoforming systems operating in over 85 countries worldwide in virtually every industry.

BMG has an opening for a Mechanical Assembler located in Beaverton, MI. Our Mechanical Assemblers make various mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic sub-assemblies. They assemble complex operating mechanisms to make a complete machine.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Receive job assignment and instructions on blueprints and work orders from supervisor or team leader.
  2. Move parts from staging area to assembly area.
  3. Clean and prepare parts for assembly.
  4. Assemble ovens, rails, stations, frames, hydraulic units, etc., prior to final assembly with instruction.
  5. Install guards, rails, ovens, and other assemblies.
  6. Mount and plumb hydraulic and pneumatic components.
  7. Assemble roll stands to work order and print.
  8. Assemble machine in proper sequence from work order and prints.
  9. Inspect machine when complete per work order and fill out check sheets.
  10. After machine is complete prepare machine for shipment and dismantle as required.

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  2. Mechanical aptitude required - prefer 2 years of assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
  3. Ability to read blueprints.
  4. Basic math skills.
  5. Basic computer skills preferred.
  6. Working knowledge of assorted hand tools, torque wrenches, hand & power drills, motorized hoist, hand grinder and pipe threader.
  7. Able to work an off-shift preferred.

ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Lift, push, and pull up 35 to 50 lbs. occasionally.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Walk for extended periods of time.
  • May work in seated or standing positions for prolonged periods of time, perform sustained manual activities at low to moderate levels of exertion.
  • Must be able to access and navigate within each department at the organization’s facilities (i.e. climb stairs, ladders, etc.)
