About this job

Correctional Nursing offers opportunities to care for a variety of patient needs.  While one moment you may be at the main jail seeing acute patient intakes, monitoring detox, and chronic care needs at other times you will be simply be responsible for handling the less urgent needs of patients housed at the annex facility.  Sometimes you are an ER Nurse and others you are at the doctor’s office.  Autonomy and Balance will be a key part of your role should you seek to become an integral part of the team at Wayne Co.

Location: Wayne County Detention Center
Open Position:  FT LPN or RN
Schedule: 12 hr Day Shift Rotation 8a - 8p w/Alternating Weekends
 
Sign-On & Retention Bonus Offered
 
Duties include, but are not limited to: 
  • Deliver patient care, evaluate symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients, chart results, establish nursing plans and work under the boundaries of State Scope of Practice and Guidelines, and Physician/Provider(s) 
  • Administer prescribed medications in accordance with nursing standards & correctional regulations
  • Follow through with established treatment plans
  • Perform emergency intervention, physical assessment and critical thinking
