Overview


At Kamatics, a division of Kaman Corporation, we have an exciting opportunity for a Facilities Technician to join our team in Bloomfield, CT. Under the direction of the Supervisor, Facilities, with minimum supervision, the Facilities Technician assists the facilities department in the completion of day-to-day activities involving the maintenance of the building, machinery, and overall facility appearance. The Facilities Technician will also be responsible for project management and support personnel performing general construction, modifications, and repair of equipment.

The core hours for the position are 7:00am to 3:30pm and we are currently running one hour of mandatory overtime, offered at the front of the shift for a required 45 hours a week. Overttime pay is 1.5x the hourly rate for all hours in excess of 40 in a week. Essential Duties and Responsibilities


  • Performs typical maintenance tasks to support the facility including, electrical, construction, modification, and repair of equipment, building systems, and grounds.
  • Perform a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions.
  • Perform wall repairs, installation, and/or painting.
  • Order and receive parts for repairs using vender list or by sourcing additional vendors.
  • Report potentially hazardous conditions to Maintenance Management.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow department safety regulations.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on the building or grounds, as required.
  • Track PM and maintenance work orders utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management System software (CMMS).
  • Use CMMS to track daily works and provide data history for Management, auditors, and customers as necessary.
  • Assist in the maintenance of essential facility department material inventory.
  • Coordinate and oversee outside contractors/vendors performing work to the building/facilities.
  • Assist in the installation and/or relocation of production equipment.
  • Operate various equipment such as fork trucks, scissor lifts and boom trucks.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns of equipment to keep production loss to a minimum.
  • Available for on-call emergencies.

Qualifications


Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • Minimum of 4 years experience in mechanical, electrical maintenance or light carpentry

Physical Demands:

  • Position requires frequent walking and works in both indoor and outdoor environments regularly
  • Position requires frequent bending, twisting, and lifting up to 50lbs

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Bacic mechanical and electrical skills
  • Understanding of industrial safety practices (OSHA, NFPA, etc.)
  • Basic mathematics
  • Blueprint reading
  • Dependability
  • Communication skills (speaking and listening)
  • Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability work in a team environment with strong collaboration skills
  • Ability to work overtime and weekends to meet customer needs
