PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:

Purchase assigned items and services (i.e., raw materials: steel; tubing; fabrications; components; vendor services; etc. Process and monitor inventory transactions. Manage existing suppliers as well as identifies new suppliers in alignment with company initiatives.


MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Prepares and places purchase orders utilizing company ERP system. Verifies purchase orders for completeness and accuracy.
  • Identifies, interviews, evaluates, and selects sources of supply for assigned purchasing. Determines whether vendors meet established standards.
  • Requests price and delivery quotations and negotiates with prospective vendors as necessary.
  • Ensures that purchase orders, vendor lists, and other purchasing files/records are effectively set-up and maintained.
  • Effectively utilizes reports and manual systems to ensure the timely receipt of goods, services, and information. Expedites shipments to achieve desired on-time performance level from vendors.
  • Serves as a liaison with vendors on matters pertaining to quality problems. Negotiates with vendors regarding discrepant material in conjunction with the appropriate internal staff.
  • Is responsive to forecast, lead-time, and usage changes to maintain proper inventories.
  • Communicates with project management on purchase order status.
  • Identifies material flow problems and recommends corrective action to ensure timely and efficient project deliveries.
  • Manages material item data in ERP.
  • Provides guidance to Buyer 1 and supports Senior Buyer activities as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

QUALITIFCATIONS FOR ENTRY:

  • High school education or equivalent, plus 1 year of additional education or related training.
  • 3-5 years of purchasing experience at a contract manufacturing company. Experience buying metals a plus.
  • Experience in following and documenting Purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of freight traffic, routings, and rates a plus.
  • Must have knowledge of working in ERP system. Made2Manage a plus.
  • Must possess strong administrative and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work accurately with numbers and details.
  • Must be US resident or PRC holder due to access to products and technology controlled under the ITAR.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Anderson Dahlen fosters a manufacturing type environment. This position will primarily involve operating a computer at a desk in an office environment.
