About this job

RECRUITING & ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST

Upward Health is an in-home, multidisciplinary medical group providing 24/7 whole-person care. Our clinical team treats physical, behavioral, and social health needs when and where a patient needs help. Everyone on our team from our doctors, nurses, and Care Specialists to our HR, Technology, and Business Services staff are driven by a desire to improve the lives of our patients. We are able to treat a wide range of needs – everything from addressing poorly controlled blood sugar to combatting anxiety to accessing medically tailored meals – because we know that health requires care for the whole person. It’s no wonder 98% of patients report being fully satisfied with Upward Health!

WHY IS THIS ROLE CRITICAL?

Upward Health is rapidly expanding our presence in the NY metropolitan area, needing to hire outstanding nurses, NPs, physicians, LCSWs and Care Specialists. The Recruiting & Engagement Specialist will work with an outstanding HR team, at the immediate direction of the Director of Talent & Engagement in our headquarters in Hauppauge, NY. Questions to ask yourself before you decide to apply… Are you up for the challenge of recruiting and hiring LPNs (Licensed Practical Nurse), RNs (Registered Nurse), FNPs (Family Nurse Practitioner) and other healthcare professionals in a market where budget is always a factor but candidates in those positions can name their own price? Are you excited about selling a company that is passionate about its employees and patients, and do you see new employee’s experience and success as your responsibility? Are you an early adapter of technology who has a little bit of a nerd somewhere deep inside them, so managing deadlines and performance metrics drives and excites you? Are you always looking for ways to challenge yourself and grow personally and professionally? Do you practice servant leadership at work and in life? Do you even know what that means? … If not, I suggest you go read about it because it is the management philosophy of our whole organization.

The person in this role will understand how to successfully recruit and retain front line healthcare workers in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment and will understand that they are the face of the organization for our candidates. Our company is growing rapidly, so the work is constant, high volume, and critical to the Company's success. Our ideal candidate is self-motivated, has a work-hard play-hard mentality and thrives in chaos. Our HR team is hardworking, dedicated, fun, and serious about supporting each other and the organization. We do not say “no, because” we say “yes, and…” and we support each other to ensure the team's success. In this position, your responsibilities will be diverse, and the right individual will never be bored. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for a high growth company in the healthcare space with a fabulous company culture. Occasional dance parties may break out in the kitchen, be prepared. You must be technically savvy, familiar with all current popular recruiting platforms, and understand how to find Unicorns in a talent pool full of donkeys. You must also be trustworthy, understand the importance of confidentiality, and want to help change the face of healthcare for the better for the individuals who need it most!

Upward Health is an in-home primary care practice that cares for high-need, high-risk patients in the home. We have an immediate need for a Healthcare Recruiter with significant high volume healthcare experience who is mission and culture driven and is passionate about the employee experience. The Healthcare Recruiter’s job is to hire the right people for the company. This person will be the face of Upward Health for potential future employees, which means the right candidate will love the mission of

the company, the values of the company, the people they work with, and have a genuine excitement about being a key part of building a company that changes the way healthcare is delivered to the most high-need, high-cost individuals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create and manage compelling and innovative job postings that will compel even passive candidates to click and apply for our positions
  • Screen applicants for all clinical (and some non-clinical) roles via phone and Teams Interviews
  • Schedule interviews with hiring managers, maintain careers calendar, and send reminders and follow up on appointments
  • Check references, background checks, orient and onboard new employees using our HRIS
  • Build a pipeline of viable candidates in our market areas
  • Perform screenings and interviews based on the hiring manager's needs – the position will require some early mornings, later evenings, and some weekend work here and there.
  • Work with hiring managers and teams on their engagement goals and plan to support the dedication to our employees and low turnover
  • Assist with other HR functions and projects as requested by the CHRO or other team members as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to work in shades of gray – this is a fast paced, ever-changing organization that prides itself on flexibility and the ability to be nimble. If rigidity, process, and policy are your jam, then we are not a good fit for you
  • Energy, honesty, and a genuine love of people are non-negotiable musts for this role
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills are a MUST
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience specifically in healthcare recruiting
  • Experience working with teams on goals and projects
  • Ability to brilliantly navigate Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Experience with Applicant Tracking Systems/ADP/LinkedIn/Indeed a plus
  • Background in healthcare staffing agency or other type of high-paced, high volume recruiting setting preferred
  • Experience in other HR areas a plus
