The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids (CTFK) seeks a full-time Legal Intern to provide legal and policy support for the regulation of tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as well as by state, Tribal, and local authorities. In this role, you will provide support for litigation, legislative, and regulatory activities, including legal research and policy analysis related to FDA regulation and the defense of state and local tobacco control laws. You are likely to see the issues you work on at CTFK reported on in major news outlets across the country, and you will play a key role in these efforts by working on substantive assignments as if you are a full-time staff attorney. We see our interns as a full member of the team and include them in daily communications and weekly meetings related to CTFK's advocacy efforts. The position is based in Washington, D.C., reports to the Staff Attorney and works with attorneys and a paralegal on the Legal and Regulatory Affairs team. CTFK is currently working under a hybrid work model and requires full COVID-19 vaccination for all staff and interns. Intern pay is $20 per hour. Alternatively, CTFK will work with interns interested in gaining academic credit for their summer experience. Requirements -Currently enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a law school in the United States. -Ability to work in the United States. Skills -Detail-oriented. -Excellent writing and organizational skills. -Ability to manage confidential information with discretion. -Knowledge of and proficiency with a variety of computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook. -Excellent analytical skills and legal writing and research ability. -Ability to be flexible and modify priorities as needed. -Ability to take initiative and work independently with only general supervision.
