We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Social Worker to join our team in Howard. As a School Social Worker, you will play a critical role in supporting the emotional, social, and psychological well-being of our students. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of young learners and creating a nurturing and inclusive school environment.
Overview:

  • Full Time
  • 5 Days a Week
  • 35 Hours Per Week
  • Start: As Soon As Possible
  • End: June 2024

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct social work services to students, including individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and conflict resolution.
  • Conduct assessments to identify students' needs and develop appropriate intervention plans.
  • Collaborate with teachers and parents to address behavioral, emotional, and social issues affecting students' academic performance.
  • Act as a liaison between the school, community organizations, and external agencies to connect students and families with necessary resources and support.
  • Develop and implement preventive programs and initiatives to promote positive mental health, social skills, and resilience among students.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 plans for students with special needs.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss student progress, coordinate services, and develop strategies for student success.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records of all student interactions, assessments, and interventions.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • Valid state license/certification as a School Social Worker (if required by the state).
  • Previous experience working as a School Social Worker or in a similar capacity preferred.
  • Knowledge of child development, counseling techniques, and evidence-based interventions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with students, parents, teachers, and administrators.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and understand the unique needs of students from various backgrounds.
  • Familiarity with relevant laws and regulations pertaining to child welfare and education.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and resilience when working with students facing challenges.
