Location: Kerrville, TX 78028

Facility:  SSLC

Start date: 

  • Approximate start date week of 5/1/24, 5/15,24, 6/3/24, 6/17,24

Length:   minimum of 6 months (with option to extend)

Shift:  (3PM-11PM AND 11PM-7AM)

Needs: 8 LVN

 

LVN Pay rate:

Local: $30/hr

Travel:  ($14/hr taxed + $720/wk tax-free travel stipend)

**Must be 50 miles away from permanent residence to qualify for housing allowance**

 

 

Duties of Agency Licensed Vocational Nurse

  • Performs advanced vocational nursing work.
  • Provides the care, treatment, and general welfare of individuals residing at Kerrville State Hospital who have complex medical, mental health and/or behavioral health issues.
  • Performs basic and advanced routine and non-routine nursing tasks to promote the health of the individuals within the assigned areas and assigned shift.
  • Administers medication to patients.
  • Collects specimens for lab work and performs health screenings.
  • Instructs direct support professionals and other staff on how to provide service and care that support the individual’s medical needs.
  • Performs technical nursing procedures according to facility and state regulations.
  • Keeps informed of and follows all agency and Kerrville State Hospital policies and procedures.
  • Provides direction and assists with on-the-job training to others such as newly hired LVNs and direct care staff.
  • Provides on-the-job nursing instruction and training for new LVNs, within their scope of practice, as requested by RN Supervisor.
  • Evaluates nursing intervention outcomes and provides input to other members of the healthcare team.
  • Assists RNs with implementation of protocols, procedures and programs to improve overall health and safety of staff and individuals.
  • Works under the limited supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

 

Requirements:

  • Current Resume
  • Preferably 1+ years in a behavioral health setting
  • Active TX LVN license
  • Current BLS/CPR (AHA)
  • 2 current supervisor references
  • Physical (within 12 months)
  • Must have negative PPD results within last 12 months
  • Vaccinations: MMR/Hep B/Varicella or titers
  • Must be able to successfully pass a urine drug screen and background check
  • Must be able to successfully pass an FBI fingerprint background check
