Special Education Teacher

Job Details:

• Position: SPED Teacher
• Type: Full-time
• Working Hours: 7:30am-3:15pm (give or take)
• Employment Duration: Full School Year

Responsibilities:

As a SPED Teacher, you will be responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to a middle school age caseload of 15-16 students. Your primary focus will be on students with special needs in a resource room setting. The position will also involve implementing both push-in and pull-out strategies to ensure that students receive the appropriate level of support and achieve their educational goals. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
• Providing direct instruction and support in academic and functional skill areas
• Collaborating with other members of the school team, including general education teachers, therapists, and support staff
• Monitoring student progress and adjusting instructional strategies accordingly
• Conducting assessments to gather data and inform instructional planning
• Communicating regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
• Valid state teaching certification or licensure in Special Education
• Prior experience working with middle school age students with special needs
• Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of professionals
• Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with students with special needs
