The Vice President, Operations (VP, Ops) is a strategic leadership role in the Fulfillment Managed Services BU, responsible for overseeing and optimizing all operational aspects for a Business Unit (BU) within the Division. The operational aspects are in accordance with the overarching mission of the larger organization. The primary focus of this role will be on meeting financial goals, optimizing operational processes, and driving overall business success.


In This Role, You Will:

  • Provide global leadership, direction, and vision to operations teams to achieve BU annual revenue goals, service, and growth objectives.
    • Create and promote a culture of safety whereby all safety and regulatory requirements/best practices are met.
    • Lead and motivate direct reports to achieve profit (EBITDA) targets and continuously maximize profitability.
    • Review and adjust organizational structure to best meet the needs of customers and stakeholders.
    • Utilize continuous improvement methodologies, developing a culture focused on employee safety, quality, and cost effectiveness.
    • Support talent acquisition, employee development, and retention of division staff including the identification and training of back-up for key positions and establishment of a shadow organization throughout the division.
  • Lead and execute the strategic direction for the BU in alignment with the organization's long-term goals and objectives.
    • Direct operational initiatives to effectively grow the business, ensure financial strength, and drive efficiencies.
    • Identify top line growth initiatives within the BU and collaborate with commercial team to deliver on those initiatives.
    • Carryout approved business and operational plans, programs, and strategy for the BU including full administrative, financial and sales responsibility to support corporate vision and strategy.
  • Create and inspire team environment with culture of open communication.
    • Set clear team goals and hold team members accountable for performance.
    • Provide feedback, coaching and mentoring.
    • Delegate tasks and set deadlines.
    • Monitor team performance and report on metrics.
    • Partner with Human Resources to identify training needs and ensure development opportunities are provided.
    • Listen to team members' feedback and resolve issues or conflicts.
  • Liaise and collaborate with all members of Odyssey leadership.
  • Work with other senior leaders within the BU and division to drive synergies within the division and company.
  • Create strategic plans to meet goals set forth by Division President and Corporate Office
    • Lead the BU in compliance with the Company's policies, procedures, and Corporate Compliance Programs, as well as with all government regulations.
    • Provide regular updates to the Division President and Corporate Office regarding BU activities including strategies, financial performance, etc.

Qualifications

Required:

    • 5-10 years of progressive operations management experience in the logistics industry is required.
      • Each picking and/or ecommerce warehouse experience is strongly preferred.
    • Experience in light industrial manufacturing environments is a plus. Bachelor's degree in business or a related area required.
      • Masters degree is a plus.
    • Excellent planning and organizational skills with demonstrated ability to direct large complex initiatives to ensure completion.
    • Proven ability to analyze and conclude; ability to apply Continuous Improvement methodologies and to standardize processes.
    • Well-established people leadership skills that span the scope of levels in the organization.
      • Global leadership experience is preferred.
    • Ability to formulate organizational vision and strategies, along with the ability to lead a team in the planning and achievement of the vision.
    • Strong knowledge of industry best practices related to logistics/warehousing .
    • Ability to effectively communicate the company's vision, direction, strategic plan, decisions, and opportunities to stakeholders, both internally and externally.
    • Strong understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles.
    • Expertise in interpreting contracts and customer negotiations, combined with a rigorous analytical approach.
    • Clear ability to lead an organization, to inspire and motivate team members, to set high standards of achievement and willingness to be deeply engaged, setting, and achieving aggressive goals.
    • Knowledge of Federal, State, OSHA, EPA, and OSHA regulations is required.
      • Experience implementing safety programs in a warehouse environment.

Location: This is an in-office role based in New Milford, CT.

Approximately 20% travel is anticipated.
