Mechanic B-Electrician positions are located throughout New Jersey including Hoboken,

Summary

Mechanic B-Electrical Shop Electricians conduct general and specialized installation, maintenance and repair on various types of electrical equipment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Must present one of the following: New Jersey Electrical License, Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship Electrician from the NJ Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship OR five (5) years of electrical experience in commercial, industrial and/or residential environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, wiring diagrams, schematics, construction drawings, etc.
  • Experience with troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems.
  • Must pass New Jersey Transit’s Electrician Aptitude Test.
  • Present a valid driver’s license and High School Diploma or GED.
  • Successfully pass the pre-screening process including drug test, physical, and criminal, employer, and driving background checks.

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Installing low or medium voltage equipment, panels, motors, controls, etc.
  • Installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic systems, PLC’s, Controllers, Computers, Alarms, PA’s, etc.
  • Test equipment such as multi-meters, insulation testing, phasing, etc.
  • Using and understanding code requirements, including NEC, NESC, OSHA, IEEE, NFPA, etc.
  • Prior railroad, transportation, or military experience

Physical Requirements

  • Stoop, bend, crawl, balance, climb, kneel
  • Be exposed to equipment that intensifies the heat factor on an occasional basis
  • Wear protective equipment such as hardhat, safety glasses, and safety-toe boots
