Field Supervisor

 

Jeff Asbell Excavating and Trucking, Inc., a division of Asbell Companies, is currently seeking a Field Supervisor versatile in a variety of areas including but not limited to painting, building scaffolding, industrial services, site maintenance, and excavating. The Field Supervisor must have verifiable experience in the construction industry, be able to work extended hours and be willing to travel.  A pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check is required of all successful candidates.   

 

Essential Functions:

  • Unload tools, prepare building site materials, and set up equipment.
  • Prepare new construction sites by digging, moving dirt, or compacting space.
  • Safely use construction and maintenance tools and equipment to complete daily tasks.
  • Follow all instructions, rules and requests of the Superintendent, Division Manager and others in the chain of command.
  • Clean and clear debris and hazardous materials from job site.
  • Operate heavy equipment, including but not limited to trackhoe, backhoe, motor graders, bulldozer, front-end loader, skid steer, articulated truck and roller.
  • Safeguard equipment including inspecting, cleaning and greasing as needed. Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure equipment is working properly.
  • Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
  • Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met.
  • Ensure regulated and proper headgear, earplugs, gloves, safety glasses, and clothing are worn as required.
  • Maintain and submit accurate paperwork as requested, including but not limited to employee time and field notes.
  • Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner while following all health and safety regulations.
  • Be willing to work and have reliable transportation.
  • Work well in a team and communicate effectively with others.
  • Clearly direct operations based on direction from Superintendent involving multiple pieces of equipment.
  • Record field notes as requested.

 

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in finish grading operations for dirt and base.
  • GPS experience preferred but not mandatory.
  • Must be willing to help with laborer work when needed.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Must be at least 23 years of age.
  • Must have availability for emergency response.
  • BNSF, eRail, KC Southern Rail, OSHA-10 hour Construction, OSHA-Fall Protection, OSHA-Competent Person, Hazwoper, 1st Aid & CPR, and other safety trainings are required, but may obtain upon hire.

 

Physical Demands/Requirements:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Continually manipulate hand wheels and pedals to control attachments, such as blades, buckets, scrapers, or swing booms.
  • Visual ability to determine which of several objects is closer or farther away from you, or to judge the distance between you and an object.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and stand on uneven surfaces.
  • The employee may be required to frequently lift up to 50 lbs, along with climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching and grasping.

 

Work Environment/Conditions:

Frequent work outside in extreme environmental conditions, including hot, cold, and wet temperatures.
