Job Description
Salary:

The primary responsibility of this position is to operate feed mill machinery to receive ingredients and manufacture feed to meet the quality and nutritional specifications according to the feeding program of the Company.  This position requires lots of physical movement throughout the day including heavy lifting and frequent climbing at various heights.

 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 10-55lb ingredient bags. Will require bending and twisting.  
  • Ability to climb up/down ladders/steps at various and sometimes extreme heights up to 100ft off ground.

 

Machinery/Equipment:

  • Frequent forklift use. Requires stepping up approximately 18 inches off ground to enter forklift approximately 10-15 times per day.
  • Occasional scissor lift use.

 

Work Environment:

  • Requires working both inside and outside of the plant.
  • Work environment is noisy and dusty.

 

Tasks/Duties:

  • Receives feed orders from Dispatcher and processes the feed orders at desk/work station utilizing computer and printer.
  • Frequent lifting of 50lb ingredient bags and carrying bags to various stations (scales, hoppers etc.). Requires bending, reaching overhead, twisting, and holding bags while pouring ingredients onto bins and hoppers. The frequency of lifting and carrying varies from 40-60 times per day for up to 50lb bags per day
  • Receives both bulk and bagged ingredients in to the mill
  • Evaluate and grade the quality of ingredients received, and take proper samples as requested.
  • Maintain records of ingredients received in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Operate corn roller mills to ensure grind quality is appropriate.
  • Assist with daily reconciliation of drug inventories in accordance with good manufacturing practices.
  • Assist with and load complete feed onto trucks.
  • Assist with maintenance and repair projects as requested.
  • Climbing of ladders and stairs at various heights ranging from 2ft-10 ft. off the ground daily.
  • Occasional climbing of extreme heights up to 100ft above ground.
  • Confined space entry-requires bending and crawling.
  • Help with general housekeeping and custodial duties to ensure the mill is kept clean both inside and outside.
  • Follow all safety practices and prescribed safety protocols.
  • All other tasks and duties as requested.
  • Reports to Shift Supervisor.
