Job Description

 

Purpose:          The Sales Manager will assist the Director of Sales & Marketing in the day-to-day execution of the regional sales & marketing strategy with a key focus on building brand awareness, new account acquisition throughout group/catering business in multiple market segments. The Sales Manager handles incoming leads within parameters and maximizes revenue through increased bookings. Actively up sells each business opportunity to maximize revenue. Achieves personal and team related revenue goals. Ensures business is turned over properly and in a timely fashion for proper service delivery in accordance with brand standards.

Reports to:      Director of Sales & Marketing

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prospect for new accounts and bookings within assigned territory/market segment.
  • Qualify accounts to determine their business potential.
  • Conduct sales calls, as indicated by the annual Sales & Marketing Plan.
  • Achieve budgeted goals by executing sales and activities within assigned market segment.
  • Handle all sales to domestic & international clients for groups generated by travel agencies and corporations.
  • Generates special marketing plans, promotional material, newsletters and reports for the Domestic and International group/catering markets.
  • Manages and organizes FAM trips, site inspections, client entertainment, etc.
  • Identifies new markets and sales opportunities globally.
  • Develops data and recommends programs to meet client’s needs.
  • Complete administrative follow-ups, communication with event management.
  • Handle all correspondence, as it pertains to assigned territory.
  • Entertain clients and conduct site inspections.
  • Trace calls to existing accounts on a timely basis.
  • Effectively follow-up on leads.
  • Knowledge of the competitive market.
  • Participate in sales meetings and related industry events to represent the hotel, as well network amongst the community.
  • Ability to self-motivate and multi-task and work independently or within a team.
  • Develop and maintain prospect and customer list based on strategic marketing data and other sources for sales leads in our Delphi/Salesforce system.
  • Manage client relationship through all phases of the sales cycle.
  • Must be able to demonstrate sales record (4+ years) at a high level of achievement.
  • Analytical skill set, strong presentation skills, solid interpersonal, networking, and public relation skills, ability to interact with any level within an organization.
  • Meet monthly booking goals, as indicated by the annual Sales & Marketing plan.
  • Execute additional projects as assigned by the Director of Sales & Marketing.
  • Attend sales meetings; prepare monthly activity reports and action plan for the Director of Sales & Marketing.
  • Handle inquiry calls on a timely basis, responding to all messages in a timely manner. Develops, coaches and mentors team subordinate staff.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Qualifications Requirements:
    To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Education and/or Experience:
    Minimum four (4) years of Hotel Sales experience. Must be proficient in Delphi. Only serious, professional, experienced applicants please.
  • Language Skills:
    Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Able to communicate effectively, both orally and by written work. Bilingual a plus.
  • Computer Skills

Strong Microsoft Office skills with emphasis on Excel. Prior knowledge of Delphi, Salesforce is a plus.

  • Mathematical Skills:
    Ability to accurately perform basic mathematics and understand general accounting principles.
  • Reasoning Ability:
    Ability to apply reasonable levels of logic and psychology to the negotiation process and to effectively determine the viability of specific booking opportunities.

 

Tools and Equipment:

  • Tables and chairs when assisting room set-ups.
  • Computer and printer, typewriter, telephone, pen/pencil, photo-copying machine,

file folders, filing cabinet, facsimile machine  

Working Environment:

  • Exterior of hotel with exposure to weather conditions
  • Interior of hotel, in normal office conditions.
