POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Early Childhood Center Director operates the Early Childcare Center and directs the staff, programs, and budgets. The Early Childhood Center Director will strategically coordinate and implement programs and activities that enrich the lives of children in the YMCA community.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Manages, directs, coordinates, and evaluates the Early Childcare Center, enrollment, high quality programs, and new program activities, following state guidelines for quality improvement.
  2. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs personnel and volunteers, reviewing and evaluating performance and achievement of goals.
  3. Develops, manages, and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
  4. Work with staff and parents to meet the special needs of individual children by observing children, assisting in developing behavior plans, and providing follow-up with teachers and parents. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  5. Ensures compliance with Washington State DEL regulations and YMCA program standards and safety procedures, including mandatory reporting of child abuse and neglect
  6. Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living,
  7. Maintains proper records/department files
  8. Develops and maintains relationships with Washington State DEL licensors, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
  9. Assists in marketing and distribution of program information.
  10. Provides staff leadership for Annual Campaign as well as Program Committee and YMCA facility meetings.
  11. Supports CACFP/USDA and HEPA through budgeting, communication, and planning.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
    • May be substituted with at least four years work experience in a related field.
    • May be substituted with an Associate Degree and at least two years of work experience in a related field.
  • 45 credits in Early Childhood Education preferred. If you do not meet this requirement we can help you obtain it after hire.
  • One to two years' experience as a Coordinator or Supervisor of Child Care programs preferred.
  • Minimum age of 21
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention, Pediatric CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Fulfillment of state-specific hiring standards upon hire and completion of YMCA program specific certifications: TB Test; Registered in DEL MERIT; Portable Background Clearance; 30-hour STARS basic training or Education Exemption

STARTING PAY: $22.50-$24.00/hour depending on experience
