Alta Science & Engineering, Inc. seeks qualified candidates for a Civil Construction Inspector/ Resident Project Representative position to support a variety of civil engineering construction projects. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented candidate who can work well on a team and independently.

 

This full time (40 hours/week) seasonal position will be based in Alta’s Kellogg, Idaho office.


Responsibilities Include:
• Perform on-site observations, inspections, and oversight of construction work in progress including field checks of materials and equipment.
• Verify construction compliance with contract documents and generate daily field reports.
• Keep detailed records including photo logs of construction activity.
• Review contractor submittals for compliance with contract documents.
• Review contractors’ invoices for accuracy to work completed.
• Generate and track change orders.
• Participate in construction meetings.
• Perform inspection of completed work, generate punch-lists.
• Maintain a high degree of professionalism during interactions with Alta staff, clients, and other stakeholders.
• Provide timely communication with supervisor and Engineer of Record regarding work-related matters.
• Manage time between multiple construction projects simultaneously.
• Maintain all records in an organized electronic format.
• Actively promote good Health and Safety practices at all times.


Required Qualifications:
• Strong organization and attention to detail
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interpret information, follow developed standards, and resolve problems.
• Math skills for volume and area computation or other similar calculations.
• Experience reading civil engineering plans and specifications.
• Must be reliable and a self-starter, willing to adapt to field working conditions.
• Work well as part of a team, with strong interpersonal skills.
• Be willing and able to perform a variety of tasks, including outdoor work in varying weather and ground conditions.
• Strong knowledge of MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Valid driver’s license with insurable driving record


Desired Qualifications:
• Construction experience
• Inspection or quality control experience
• Experience working with Bunker Hill Superfund Site Institutional Control Program (ICP)
• 40-Hour or 24-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Training (per 29 CFR 1910.120) with current 8-hour refresher training is a plus.


Education and Experience
• At least 2 years of experience and training in similar duties or construction supervision experience
• High school diploma or equivalent


Salary Range $25.00 - $30.00 per hour (Depending on experience)
