Quality Manager - Cell

Ultium Cells is a joint venture lithium-Ion automotive battery cell manufacturing plant between LG Energy Solutions and General Motors. This new construction high-technology plant will have the latest battery cell manufacturing technology. The investment in this new business venture represents a commitment of more than $2.3 Billion. It will be among the largest battery cell manufacturing plants in the world. Ultium Cells will produce battery cells for General Motors North American electric vehicle applications.

Job Summary:

Quality Manager is in charge of assembly, formation and tear down analysis. Cell QA Part leader is responsible for leading floor operation members to work successfully and safely to meet the needs of its customers, both internal and external. This position is responsible for managing, coordinating, executing and operational needs. Manage overall operation groups to ensure accurate, targeted volumes are produced at the right quality and cost

Responsibilities:

• Quality management of L&S, PKG, Formation, Final Cell verification and Tear down Analysis.
• Managing equipment yearly calibration and MSA.
• Problem solving, troubleshooting and decision-making for the various Cell quality issues.
• Cooperating with multi-functional team including LGES HQ for the continuous improvement/equipment validation/coordination of results
• Work instruction (TIS) creation and control.
• NCR management reviewing the root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Setting-up the inspection lab including new equipment purchasing for the new inspections
• New line verification & internal process audit

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Engineering (Chemical/Industrial/Mechanical/Electric/etc.)
• Experience and knowledge of FMEA, Control plan, CTQ, CTP, SPC, Six sigma, 8D, product inspection
• Need and capability of finding improvement ideas for yield in components and inspections
• Positive, dedicated attitude and demonstrated effectiveness to achieve given goals within due dates
• The willingness and ability to work flexible hours occasionally to support team
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Leadership and Open-mindedness
• Ability to work in a team environment to drive success
• Drive Effective Problem Solving and support team to implement solutions
• Knowledge of appropriate measures of performance and applicable standards
• Preparation of meaningful reports on work performed and conclusions
• Ability to obtain, understand and apply relevant information
• Ability to use technology for furthering functional competencies
• Good capability to use MS-office and Minitab program
